CDS is the exam that is conducted by the UPSC two times in a year for the Indian army, navy and air force. The competition that goes there is very difficult as the best of people come there and hence it requires a smart way to crack the exam. 

 Those of the candidates who passed the written exam of CDS are then called for the SSB Interview and their medical fitness test. After clearing all the stages of the screening process, the students get finally selected.  

The CDS Exam is inclusive of three Paper which is as such General knowledge, English, and Mathematics. Each Paper is of 100 marks and the time duration for each one of them is of 02 hours. For admission to IMA, INA, and AFA the written test contains all the three Papers while for admission to OTA course, there is an exception that it will be only two Papers with 200 marks.

Smart tips that you need to know : 

1 – Know the importance of the CDS exam pattern and CDS exam syllabus you are preparing yourself for :

This should be the first and foremost step that people must know about as this helps a candidate in knowing the structure of the paper, they would not be unknown to their CDS exam syllabus as it will help them in knowing about the marking scheme and also the brief about the topics that need to be prepared.

2 – Solve some previous year question papers :

Once you know the structure of the exam and about the marking scheme, solve the last year question papers as they would help you in meeting with the real version of the exam you are preparing yourself for. You can even detect your mistakes and not repeat them in your exam, trust us, it will help improve you and help you in knowing about the areas you are weak in.

3 – Know your strength and weakness :

It is imperative for you that you should know your strength and weakness. Since the exam is going to be a very tricky and difficult one; so proper way to study is required.

If the candidate is under-confident in all three papers of the exam, then he should follow the principle: “Jack of All, Master of None”. This just basically means that if the candidate hopes to score above the cut-off marks, then he should not waste his time in making himself prepared just for one subject but should give time to all these subjects in an equal manner.

If the students are like, have absolute confidence over anyone Paper and the students are so sure about the performance in that Paper, then they should study as much as can be needed to cross the sectional cut off and make their that one paper is so strong that they score the required marks in that paper. 

4 – Figure out the recent cut-off :

The fact that the students must know about is to get an idea of the recent cut-off of the previous years’ exams. The benefits of having this idea are as such:

By analysing the cut-off, the students will have an idea of what they need to score, how much marks do they really know and what can be the safest score.

If the students are aware of the cut-off, then it will help them in knowing about how good they are at each subject after attempting the mock Papers.

They will also know where to improve themselves further and which subject seeking their attention.

5 – Practice maths :

The Paper of Maths is for all IMA, INA and AFA candidates. This is not limited to those who are appearing for OTA. This Paper is scoring in nature. If the candidates have practiced well in this Paper then there are more chances that they will get pretty decent marks. The Maths Paper is inclusive of 100 MCQs and all the questions carry equal marks. For every wrong answer, there will be negative marking, one-third marks are deducted as penalty.

The Maths Paper is conducted to test the speed and concepts of the subject. The topics that are asked in the exam are as such: Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, and Statistics.

6 – Practice English :

English is yet another Paper that helps the students in scoring better in the CDS Exam. If the candidates are serious about their selection in this, then they must prepare themselves for this Paper well. The topics in the English paper are as such: Spotting Errors, Sentence Arrangement, Fillers, Synonyms & Antonyms, Selecting Words or Phrases, Ordering of Sentence, Comprehension.
